Governance Structure

The Hon. Tom Marshall, Minister of Justice and regional minister has been assigned the lead role in Cabinet for moving this initiative forward. As well, CEE, as an industrial development strategy, has been moved under the jurisdiction of the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development (INTRD) for funding and implementation.

In 2005, a Project Management team consisting of senior officials from INTRD, Sir Wilfred Grenfell College and the Corner Brook Campus of the College of the North Atlantic was tasked with developing a detailed concept plan for CEE. They are supported by a large Advisory Committee representing regional stakeholders including the original proponents of the CEE concept. Most recently a small Secretariat for the CEE, led by Mr. Kevin Clarke, has been established.
