Business Management

This core competency reflects one of the main objectives of the CEE – that it support economic development, which could occur through the enhancement of existing businesses or the creation of new businesses from CEE-developed products and services that become commercialized. This is a key function that cross cuts all of the pillars. Competency in business management means that the CEE will support business planning and management, especially related to small and medium enterprises. The CEE will also incorporate expertise with respect to establishing “green business” e.g., marketing strategies to export products and services that capture the growing green market. And of course, the CEE must also support the commercialization of products and services developed as a result of research partnerships formed in each of the pillar areas. Expertise in this area includes business administration; entrepreneurship; rural economic development; economics; technology verification; marketing; and business financing.
